Some days I wake up and Bing it’s all in place , life.
Other days like today I wake up and just want to hang out! No pun intended. (Ok Yes pun intended) the picture was one I had done ages ago and I thought bing I’ll use it today.
Last night I did a live stream. In my pyjamas with my hair wild looking like Hagrids old Aunty Myrtle. Seriously picture that image and that is what poor old Youtube had coming out of the ethers of internet.
If anything I demonstrated that Covid lockdown is real and not those glossy gorgeous filtered images we see all the time of all the “beautiful” people who we all wish to have some semblance of appearing like.
There was a point to appearing like that. To show people that I’m the same as them and that perception is often misjudged/misguided.
Anyhow I was addressing some of the critique I have received over my character Va Gina. It’s interesting because the assumption was that I was likely “fat shaming” big people by my character and my vocals for her. I sound manly apparently.
Which left me actually taken aback and analysing myself for a time about it. But after some reflection I certainly stand by what I say and Aunty Va Gina will be going no where and will be staying.
I love her character and her gregarious manner and the body. I love that body because as a person who is not a Barbie in reality, she epitomizes myself and many other “big boned” women who are sassy, confident, gregarious and dare I say it also sexy!!! Or who aspire to be!
Removing the stereotypical slim framed avatar and reflecting that just like in real life, there are all shapes and sizes. Using her for comedic video is to me no different than using any of my other avatars at all. Her wholesome larger than life avatar has as much right to be on the screen as does the slim version of me.
Anyhow. Sadly not enough creators make for the Piggu avatar and at the moment I struggle with some animations for her. But I love her. Let’s get behind more creators in our virtual world supporting the bigger woman if she wants to be so.

I went over to YouTube and watched the live stream you did, and was giggling because your laughter is so infectious. 😀
There has been some movement towards mesh creators in Second Life supporting bodies other than Maitreya Lara, but it’s still the case that if I were to switch to a different body for my avatar — say, the PsiCorp Nova, which comes with an androgynous option — I’d have to throw out most of my virtual wardrobe and either start over from scratch or try to make my own clothes.
Then again, Maitreya just announced that the next version of Lara will have an option for petite breasts, which’ll be interesting to try out. Maybe they’ll even less sticky-out nipples, lol!
