Sundays dress up

I don’t know about you guys but when I was younger, like way younger and a little girl. Sundays were always about dressing up and going out with the old folks.

My parents were very set that Sundays we did family day in a big way.

Often it was in our Sunday best and we went to see my grand parents for the morning. I looked forward to that as I always got a nice shiny 50 cent piece from my Ouma (name for my grandmother).

Back then 50 cents was like a total luxury as a child and I would relish every single cent of it and plan great things in my head what I was going to spend it on.

To be fair like most children, a bag of lollies (sweets) was always the end result.

We would have morning tea (usually a nice cake she made and a glass of milk for us kids) then we would all pop our shoes back on and go out to the beach for a walk .

I loved those days. We would walk and meet up with my cousin and her mom and just stroll along and have ice cream.

Later in the afternoon around 2pm, we would head over to either my grandparents house for a nice roast chicken she had left in the oven on slow cook, or we would go out to the infamous eat as much as you like Chinese.

Either way, it was a food fest.

After lunch it was a case of feeling very well satiated and a afternoon playing board games and my Uncle telling the most ridiculous jokes  that although really dumb, left us children giggling to the max.

I remember a joke from when I was 15. Well it was a saying, but its the only joke I have ever remembered and could repeat as frankly Im a useless joker.

What is the definition of Innocence?

Nun working in a condom factory thinking she is making sleeping bags for caterpillars!

To this day that is the only joke that I remember and even now I can giggle at the daftness of it.

Reality today? I’m sat here in my pyjamas for the day and being lazy. Its Sunday and I’m not a little girl anymore. Sundays are now dress down days and whatever flow I take.

Tomorrow is work and today is all about me.

Happy Sunday everyone.
