Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage. It commemorates the date of the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It is also known as Battle of Puebla Day.
It’s a day of celebration and in honour I managed to consult Mr Google to understand what it is.
I have only discovered this day via Second Life as it isn’t something celebrated here in the U.K. or Australia when I was growing up.
I thought it remiss of me to blog a top for the occasion if I didn’t at least know what the occasion was about.
Job done. I’m off to eat my brekky now.
Happy Cinco de Maya day.

… or in any other European, African or Asian or Pacific country on the planet! It’s not even a big thing in Mexico itself. The lack of influx by Mexican immigrants may be the main reason. It’s mainly a silly US celebration like St. Paddy’s day. Ever thought about that?
