It all goes wrong

Yesterday I was meant to be at my friends daughters wedding reception. I couldn’t go because of my back and pain. Simply put me sitting sorry for myself and crying on and off meant I really couldn’t go.

But yesterday something just topped it all and right now I’m feeling a little invaded if that is the right word.

I checked my bank account to make sure my wages had gone in and saw a balance that was £200 less. I went into pending payments and there it was a £200 payment to coindeck.com.

I reported it immediately to the bank fraud section and it is with them right now.

I Google coindeck and it’s something to do with bitcoin. I didn’t and never have had anything to do with bitcoin and it’s certainly bothered me. More so because I haven’t used my card anywhere and have basically only used it online groceries and Amazon.

I haven’t been shopping or used a cash machine for anything to be cloned. So how!!!!!

I have no ability to use my account till a new card is issued as all payments using that card number won’t go through. The DD’s are all fine but the rest won’t be,

At least the bank is good as they will honour all my payments . I’m just not sure about the card set up ones.

Moral of todays story? Always have done cash about the place in case your cards stop working.

  1. Ugh, I’ve had that happen to me a couple of times over the years, luckily the dodgy transactions were flagged up by the bank’s anti-fraud checks, and as soon as I confirmed they weren’t from me the card was stopped and a new one issued. I have another credit card reserved for big purchases that I can use to cover payments in the interim, but it’s still a pain in the posterior for monthly subscriptions.

I have hardly any cash in my wallet now, most of my spending is on card, and when I’ve been to shops or the pharmacy I use contactless payment.

    1. Honestly I’m baffled. I’d understand if I’d been out and about cloned but haven’t used my card at a cash machine or at a shop. Everything is online all my regular transactions. Well they’re dealing with it now but this week will be painful as anything I regularly pay with card will bounce a few days till I get the new card to update . Luckily I have cash anyhow as I sold my iphone last weekend so it’s not like I’m broke . More annoyed . I wonder if my bitcoin was worth it 😂

      1. I never did work out how they got hold of my card details, my best guess is that some website leaked them, so now I’m restricting who can keep that information on file. I use my credit card so little out in the real world that I have to remind myself occasionally what the PIN is for it, lol.

      2. Lol I’m the same I have to keep reminding myself of my pin. This last year I’d say maybe 7 times total used most purchases online. I really want to know so at least I can not make same mistake again if it’s a site or merchant
I am more chipper today at least as I’m glad I saw it and could report it while pending . I don’t know if it stops the money going but at least I guess maybe they can work out where from as if they try use those details again they won’t be able to
