Today the most hilarious thing happened to me.
Amazon did a delivery and it was something my son had ordered and had delivered here. Because he knows I’m at home during the day to take the delivery.
So the amazon delivery guy must have been about aged 22 if a day older.
He says to me before he can give me the parcel I have to prove I’m over 18.
I look at him and simply say “I’m old enough to be your mother and then some”
He turns around and says he can’t take at face value my age and I need to prove it.
Well, what can I say. Out came the passport and he could verify my age.
For one moment I thought wow I’m so complimented by this and clearly I’ve still got it!
Until he said to me, deliveries of alcohol require them to verify ID and take down the recipients date of birth. He knows I’m his mothers age but has to prove it back at work!
My illusions shattered within seconds.
Which really adds to my last week of ageism. Even us middle aged people have to prove we are!
How ironic.
