Interruption to coffee

Coffee with Isa is on hold today because I wanted to do a post about the University Of Western Australia (UWA) and the awards they have been giving to people over the years for their amazing contributions to art and machinima in Second Life. Of course it comes with a self indulgent video.

I was very fortunate along with my friend Suzie Anderton to be part of these awards and to have been nominated. (I will link below this post to the site so you can go and check out all the entries ( Suffice to say Harriet Parker was most excited that her two friends Isabelle Cheren (me) and Suzie Anderton were noticed amongst all the talented machinima makers.)

The theme of the SLartist@UWA Machinima Challenge was ‘ART OF THE ARTISTS.’

I won Slartist@UWA Machinima Challenge in 4th place and an honourable mention to for the POOKYMEDIA Prize

What they said was :-This film featured the work of artists Noke Yuitza, Otcoc Resident & Phillysmaybe Resident, Peli Dieterle, Igor Ballyhoo, and Rosie Dimanovic. One of the panel offered, “The concept of this film is very good; it is beautifully made, very artistic and creative. The section in the middle almost feels like it belongs to a different film, and I appreciate it as a separate entity. I like the delivery of the poem, it is easy to follow. There is a dream-like feel to this film, very soothing.

Suzie Anderton  is joint-winner of the UWA Special Prize and also 3rd Place for POOKYMEDIA Prize

What was said of Suzie’s  work was :-  a lovely romantic piece using real life footage and greyscale very well. This machinima pays special tribute to an artwork which won one of the YWA Grand Challenges, created by Australian artist Sharni Azalee. One of the judges said, “This is a creative film with good detail, and script. Well made. Fantasy vs Reality. Very cinematic. Excellent transitions and fit between audio and visual. The idea is a classic, and the dreamlike filming works well.”

The overall first prize went to Glasz DeCuir
