I’m on the sofa watching the Stepford Wives with Nicole Kidman and laughing to myself. I just had a late lunch and was going to scrub the bathroom, but very distracted now!
It got me thinking then of this post and what I was going to write and frankly right here I am the Stepford Wife.
Perfectly turned out and not a blemish in sight. Nothing out of place and poised.
Are we all in Second Life simply a new brand of Stepford wives? We perfect our avatars to what we deem perfect and then out they go into the world.
I’m saying the imagery not the inner “us” controlling them. We are far from being Stepford wives but we manage our virtual bot selves to present as the best we can be in whatever we choose to be. Often influenced by what is considered perfection and beautiful in standards.
Much like social media does. Makeup, skins, hair etc put together with clothing. Not the behaviour of the film. Hell no, if I bake cakes they’re for me, if I exercise I won’t be wearing a dress.
Now I’m going back to the film as it’s tickling my fancy today . Happy Saturday x
