Hiatus

This is actually a blog I prepared in August that I never had time to release before the end of the event.

I may as well now as why not!!! I actually have a few in the back end so you will see them.

Today I logged in and sent notecards to all I blog and vlog for to say that I’m burning out and need time to not work to any constraints of any sort. For the month of January to start with. Maybe for a lot longer.

I’ve left one or two events and it’s up to the creators and the event owners if they will accept a blogger or vlogger who does it “their own way”. ie my way at my own time.

I’ve lost my way doing what I do and whilst trying to keep to others timescales. I’ve burnt my little wick too thin.

It’s felt more about “products” and “sales” and less about why I do it. So for now moving forward I’m going to kick back and do as I want when I want and revive the passions of who I am when I blog and make videos.

After all I do this for me! I am a creative person who thrives doing creative things. I’m not a marketing executive and nor do I intend to be. I’m capable of buying things to create the visuals and that is fine with me.

A very wise person I respect said something to me about what it means to be a blogger in SL. It’s basically Indentured Servitude. I agree with this description. Those that say thank you, are more than cherished and I truly thank them for letting me support their work.

There is a misconception that blogging is easy means to get free goods. Well if you believe that you are incredibly stupid. It’s hard work and requires time and your enthusiasm. I have never done it for the free goods. Those free goods are worth nothing for my time. It’s about enthusiasm.

My enthusiasm is what has kept me doing things constantly for so many years. Right now. It’s time for me to catch a breath.

Think about it.

  1. Everything we do in and around SL must first and foremost be funfunfun. Once that isn’t a given anymore you …uh, well, you did exactly the right thing hun. Have a duper duper slip ‘n’ slide into the new year!

  2. Good for you! I’ll be honest, I mainly come here for your writing, the SL stuff is a nice bonus. I have it comparatively easy at Gorean Whip Radio, I do my scheduled show when I can and help out behind the scenes. Occasionally I’ll cover events, and help produce audio adverts, but there’s usually not much stress involved unless it’s a last-minute thing.

This last year I’ve spent more time travelling around SL and marvelling at all the hidden treasures that are tucked away in various places on the Grid. Things like Fantasy Faire, Sci-Fi Con / Expo and the Second Life Birthday celebration are annual and fleeting, but there are so many other place to visit and marvel at that are around all the time, you just need to find them.

I’m still on a shopping moratorium, and frankly it’s liberating to spend the time I’d have used to traipse around a big store or shopping event on exploring, playing games, listening to music or just relaxing. 🙂

    Happy New Year to you!

    1. Oh I will still blog and make videos. I’m just doing it without pressure as it’s my release. I’m going to do not so everyday as I have been and spend time in doing my land and being my wierd characters and enjoying rl too. 😀
There are lots of hidden treasures and that’s my fave thing nowadays to vidro them as when they do disappear there is a screenshot they existed 😊
      Happy new year xx
