Guess what!! No, really go on guess.Its Second Life’s 17th birthday.
The festivities start tomorrow 19 June 2020 at 9am SLT.
Way way back in the olden days, 2003 to be exact, the virtual platform we know today Second Life, hit the internet and opened its virtual doors to the world. June 23 2003 to be precise.
This was the brainchild of Philip Rosedale after Linden Lab was set up in 1999.
Did you know, originally Linden Lab was actually a hardware company looking into Haptic technology?
In 2002 the very first resident entered our wonderful world, that resident was Stellar Sunshine.
Moving forward to 2020 , under the care and protection of Ebbe Altberg, we are now celebrating 17 years of the wonderful platform Second Life. The place where you can make all sorts of dreams come true. The celebrations are taking on a theme this year of Vacations and Road trips. Basically because no matter where you are you can literally explore the world from your living room.

I’ll be DJ-ing at SL17B, having done the same last year at SL16B. As I’m in the performers group in SL, I got to sneak in early and have a look around. There were already plenty of residents and Moles around, even Constantine Linden was there! As a result, it was a bit laggy at the Welcome Area, so I made my way out of there and explored a bit. I’ve been around the Shop & Hop areas, and I’ll do the free gifts area tomorrow morning UK time.
I’m pretty pleased that I’ve got a decent DJ slot, 9am SLT / 5pm UK time. Last year, I was on at midnight UK time, and didn’t get to bed until 2am! It’s only one hour slot, but I can fit plenty of music in! Needless to say, my theme will be “Road Trip… Into Spaaace!!!” 😀 And I’ll be simulcasting my set on Gorean Whip Radio, so it’ll go out across Second Life and the interwebs! 🙂 It’ll be next Tuesday, the 23rd June.
