NIFTY FIFTIES

I’m a lot of an Elvis fan. I remember my mum swooning at this swarthy man and me watching old films with her.

I fell in love with him just like she did.

I believed one day I’d meet him and get to say to him, Love me tender. Well of course that’s a young girls dream with any pop star.

But then this guy was and never will be your run of the mill pop star.

The day he died I remember being so traumatised by his death that my school sent a lot of us home to be with our parents.

I cried for days.

Then I wrote a letter to Vernon his father.

Weeks later I got a reply. I still have that reply,

It is written on a white thank you card in pen. Thanking me for my condolences and reminding me that in our hearts those we love live on forever.

Today I miss my mum, and Elvis just because he was my dream man.

Why am I rambling?

I actually went to do a 50’s photo when I came across this quaint sim by accident. There he was. Elvis!!
