This is my first time logging into Second Life after about two weeks since surgery on my shin, it’s like coming back to a kids nursery that’s been running without supervision. Oh hang in, I left my Zoobie kids drawing at the virtual table.
I was re-entering virtual civilisation. Then the flood of offline messages hit. So many that I half expected one to read, “Where have you been? We thought you were pixel-dead.” My IMs were overflowing, I couldn’t read them.
And don’t get me started on the group notices. There must be hundreds. Apparently, while I was recovering and hobbling about in real life, my avatar was missing out on endless shopping events.
But honestly? It feels good to be back. After weeks of real-life healing, it’s nice to slip into a world where my legs work perfectly and my hair looks amazing 24/7. No stitches, no pain, just me, my avatar, and a backlog of chaos to sort through.
Now, if I can just find where I left my virtual cat and clear these notifications before next year, I might finally feel like I’ve properly logged back in to life second or otherwise.
Tomorrow the stitches are removed and so we shall see the outcome.
