Apparently it’s Christmas this month. I’m not sure if I’m weirdly ready for it. I’ve got all my Christmas gifts for others, but they’re more token gifts rather than gift gifts. I just cannot afford the spend.
I would say many people are feeling this too right now because let’s face it money is getting tighter and bills etc to live are getting way higher.
One thing I learnt from the lockdowns was that gifts aren’t essential at all. In fact they’re a bind to many who struggle and we need to feel less like we “have to” and more like “if we can”.
Everyone apart from my grandson will get token gifts this year and probably every year from now on.
What is important is the spending time with those you care about. A meal together, laughter and warmth.
Honestly in my growing older phase I’ve learnt a few things. Debt is a pain in the ass and especially debt for one day. We need to stop doing it.
Honestly who created the idea that the holiday of Christmas was supposed to come with a requirement of gift giving and overspending?
Funnily I never grew up with that mindset and as a child I was lucky I got a doll at Christmas. But back then I got excited for my mums glorious treats she would make and her special Christmas biscuits. The lovely cold meats and her infamous potato salad. I grew up where Christmas was in summertime. Also that was the one day my father was less of an asshole too.
Going swimming in the afternoon and then pigging out on treats home made.
Then I came to live in the UK and discovered winter Christmas. Which I now love.
I no longer cook at Christmas as my children are grown. This year I will be at my daughters for Christmas Day and at my son and his wife’s Boxing Day. It’s so nice that after 50 years of always cooking that I now get cooked for.
So despite this photo on my blog with a carload of presents, that won’t be my reality. Which I feel is ok. It’s all about family and good friends that counts.

Hubby’s xmas gift for me is at the mecha’s workshop as we speak and he’ll get a new wrist tattoo, like he’s talking about for years.

Oooo love the wrist tattoo. That’s lovely. I’ve never had one and would love to but I’m a scaredy cat for pain. lol. Xmas sounds lovely to me. Doing what you want and no expectations. That’s how it should be. 😊♥️

It’s not his but more or less what he gets. I’m playing with the thought of getting one as well but, same as you, I’m a bit scared. I’m already inked o both arms since 40 years or so, no prob. But the skin on the inside of wrist is sooooo thin. 😮 Cool location for a tat tho, specially when you are a guitar hero like hubs.
And xmas is easy if your family only consists of you and your hub. At least the closer family. Hubby has brother and his family and I have bro-in-law. That’s it more or less. They are all too busy, worried to travel around the world, and we just don’t wanna get anywhere even close to €urope right now. So family and frens will receive funny emails. And a standing open invitation. 🙂

I don’t want to be where I am either but hey stuck here. Love to be in Oz right now in the beach. I’m darn cold and only just popped the heating on. But my god the way we feel worried to hear is now stupid . But fact for now. I send overseas funny emails too. Usually with a self video talking rubbish and reminding them how we are getting older each year. 😃

Mhm, most Germans too. It’s like pheeew, October was unexpectedly hot so we could start heating later in the year. I say fuk dat. Why do powerful industrialzed countries like the UK and Ger have to gamble on the weather in order to survive economically? 😮

It’s bloody chilly today here but at same time beautiful day.
Yes do the video idea. Seriously my family overseas and friends love it and it just is nice if you can’t video call due to time zones to send as well,
Sometimes I put on stupid clothes and sing badly as well. All just for fun 🤩 x
