Second life blog turned into Sansar moment

*UPDATE* Ebbe Altberg and some of the team have liaised with Ryan and it looks to be that this situation is on its way to being resolved. *Dialogue is always a great thing.*

I actually was planning to talk about lovely winters thoughts and such like in this blog this morning regarding second life. But standing here at the bus stop reading my feed I saw a statement from Ryan Schultz that he feels he cannot blog at the moment because yet again someone from the lab has dived in wearing size 26’s and done the take it down or else statement. Link to his Blog

Honestly some days I do wonder about folk.

Positively promoting your experiences. And here you go yet again size 26’s and alienate folk. If you consider that experience a secret….shhhh don’t tell anyone it exists and certainly don’t let anyone enter. Simples. Put disclaimers in entering the experience. I’d say that’s logical isn’t it?

Have you guys in your ivory towers put a sign on the logging page for the experience that states No, go away, no one can know or see!!!!

Or have you now taken the decision that ultimately you are going to take down every single blogger and vlogger just to show you can and scare monger?

Be clear about what you expect . Don’t hide it in the little print. If an experience is not allowed to be seen, common sense is a disclaimer at the teleportation of wording that says so.

Be thoughtful to people who visit. Sansar needs the promotion and here you go and upset a person who promotes it daily, often a number of times a day?

I’m thinking High Fidelity may soon see a surge of interest. In fact I’m reloading it tonight!

And now for the nice stuff….

  1. They are a strange lot, it’s true! I feel put out on Ryan’s behalf because all bloggers are trying to do is to advertise the place after all.

    1. I couldnt reply till now as was in a hearing representing most of the day.
So my question is like I said , was it documented to users as they enter the experience you cannot film, photograph etc. If they haven’t done that then they’re behaving recklessly by not having done that. After all without notifications in place what do they expect from users and bloggers etc. I’m on bus and when I get home I’m going to see for myself. I feel put out for Ryan. He is so enthusiastic for this world and absolutely for him to want to give up like this speaks volumes how deflated he must feel.
I hope they do the same for him and apologise for the lack of conversation and if they haven’t set out disclaimers upon entering the experience, then shame on them!

  2. Again, as it is not being as widely circulated as the original issue, the problem wasn’t with images per se. It was more over the use of the word “exclusive” within the original blog post. To whit, Kayla Sirkin posted to the Sansar Discord channel:

“We truly appreciate the ongoing support from the community, especially with all the excitement going on this week! We want to clarify that users are not discouraged from posting screenshots from any experience that is open to the public as long as there is no claim to exclusivity, early access, or other potentially misleading statements or claims that are untrue or could be construed as an official statement from Linden Lab or Sansar. We hope you all understand!”
