When you are working, you don’t want applause. You don’t want a medal. You just want people to pull their weight.
Because teamwork only works when it’s actually a team. When it’s a few pushing the cart it gets heavy fast. It wears you down in small ways. It eats at your enthusiasm and affects your psyche.
It’s hard to stay motivated when effort isn’t shared. It’s hard to feel valued when reliability becomes your default setting and others are optional extra.
Telling someone doesn’t resolve it. In fact it appears to get worse. Nothing is done.
I’d rather eat donuts right now than spend another minute. Send me the donuts.
