Virtual cultures in pandemic times

This is a blog not about me or anything to do with fashion. It’s about a filming event this weekend. 1pm PDT (SLT) or 9pm U.K. time. 2 April

You all know who Draxtor is in our Virtual world. He is the film maker extraordinaire who films both for the Official Second Life as well as his own YouTube channels.

Since March 2020, Draxtor has been following UC Irvine Department of Anthropology researchers Tom Boellstorff, Evan Conaway, Chandra Middleton, and Sandy Wenger around Animal Crossing and Second Life to find out how the COVID-19 pandemic is reshaping online interaction.

The feature length film is amazingly done and brings together different stories from all around the world on how using a virtual world, people were able to find their abilities to interact beyond a google meet. to carry on business and simply to get through a very difficult time.

If you have never understood what the virtual work is about, I highly recommend you watching the trailer below and clicking the reminder button so you can see the full length film as it airs.
