Harriet Reports

Harriet Reports

Trying to record my voices in the lockdown is so hard when I’m not alone. Hence this post and video are done later than I anticipated.

I’m seriously going to have to consider a new regime to get things done. A rigid and less casual approach for the foreseeable future.

Ahh the joys of sharing space!!!

I’m guessing this is the reality for a lot of people right now as we find ourselves more boxed in these days.

Still, Harriet has some news to tell you. Harriet absolutely is returning back to location reporting because let’s face it. Virtual life is not in a lockdown!!

Today she is sponsored by Entice as part of their Saturday sale

A world without limits

A world without limits

When it comes to Sansar and Second Life, I have a passion for both.

Both platforms have very different reasons why I love them and advocate experiencing them.

When I first went into Sansar it was during the pre public release.

I was in there familiarising myself and learning how to navigate myself around it and admiring the whole graphical experience. That was back when there were just a few experiences most by Sansar and creators had just started creating places to visit.

Move along a few years later I have seen so many changes in there and the creator experiences become more interactive and fun.

The problem was that people expected to land in Sansar and have a Second Life experience.

Sansar was never meant to be a Second Life experience. That was the first mistake people made when they logged to check it out. What they “expected”, were pretty avatars and a Second Life society.

Then they started to complain and blame Sansar for their user experience in Second Life.

Yet never really appreciating the vastly new things that Linden Lab we’re bringing into Second Life. Mesh, Bakes on Mesh, Animesh and better Linden homes etc.

So the thoughts conveyed by negative nellies was always they felt they were being “done over” in replacement for Sansar. That they would lose their hard worker lives in Second Life and the investments they had made.

The reality is, look at the past few years and the amazing things that Second Life has acquired!!

Now back to Sansar.

I love Sansar and am glad that Ebbe Altberg is not ditching it but seeking for it to continue and let some other investor take it forward. I’m not leaving Sansar and neither are many other Sansarians users who understand its potentials.

The technology behind Sansar is amazing. The potential for it even more amazing.

It has the graphics of a cgi game yet you are living inside it real time.

My computer loves it. My computer is 5 years old.

Now check this video below and tell me, this isn’t amazing or realistic.

I’m glad there is a world created like this. That’s asexual and able to provide meeting places for huge events virtually.

That young people under 18 can visit and explore their own creator experiences and not feel they can’t participate due to adult constraints.

The potential here is there.

Watch the video, no you must

You may be wondering why I have a real me pic on todays blog post?

Well because the video you are about to watch by Bernhard Drax is of how the rl we use and step into Second Life. So basically I thought it was fitting to be  the real me in this blog post. With the help of the Instagram filter called  Sutro. Because you can never look too summery.

It makes my tan stand out way better hahah.

Anyhow Im not going to ramble, just share and watch out for Drax sucking on the beer near the end. Makes me laugh every single time I see it.

Chat with Tad Williams

Today I am sharing with you all an exciting chat you can click into later today which if you are like me a big Draxtor fan you may not want to miss.

Mr Draxtor is going to be meeting up in VR with the writer Tad Williams.

If you don’t know who Tad is, he is an American fantasy and science fiction writer. He is the author of the multivolume Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series, Otherland series, and Shadowmarch series as well as the standalone novels Tailchaser’s Song and The War of the Flowers.

Now if that isn’t something to tune in for.

It will apparently be his first VR experience, so let’s all be kind.

But highly recommend you dropping into the link below and setting your reminder.

Second life turns 16 Lets Celebrate

Second life turns 16 Lets Celebrate

Can you believe it, Second Life is turning 16!!! With a 1950’s retro theme. So get those retro outfits on.

I  remember when I first discovered this crazy land, back in 2003 when I saw something about it on the internet and thought I would have a look at it.

Back then, the olden days of virtual chatting it was very new and so different from all the chat clients that were around at the time. Messenger, Yahoo, ICQ to name a few.

Even back then I loved to find out who you could talk to around the world.

I made many friends from far off places and to this day I am still in good contact with people as far back as 1999.

But Second Life was something totally different and back then, even though my computer and dial up connection couldn’t handle it very well, I knew this was something very unique and I wanted to be a part of. Moving forward to 2007 my organisation advertised to us to join as they had a sim in there a brief period. I joined but struggled again as I had moved to another dial up connection.

Come 2010, I was there and haven’t looked back. Have never regretted and made absolutely some of the most wonderful friends I have come to know both inworld and out of the world.

So now we celebrate. I am not going to credit outfits etc in todays blog because I can save that for tomorrow.

Below in the credits you will find all the information you need to jump around to where you want to go.

Right now lets party!! Video and all links below. The dance sequence was shot at the Time Portal

Dates to remember during the birthday celebrations which are now on till the 8th July:-

When you cant hang with the real thing, get a flat pack!

When you cant hang with the real thing, get a flat pack!

So, The Vlogger and Blogger network has a competition on to take Flat Kess, Trouble and Del on an adventure and take photos.

This actually isn’t my entry but I couldn’t help but add Draxtor, Ebbe and Rodvik and make them all hang out with me at Namaste Beach.

These are my flat pack mates. The friends I can pop up when I need to have friends.

It’s a bit like going to IKEA and shopping there for your friends. Personally I tend to choose the easy to erect items.

The idea reminds me of the film with Steve Martin “The Lonely Guy”.  Only instead I gave them a family photo moment.

I have been chuckling all night. Let the adventures begin……
