The Cyber Fair

The Cyber Fair

I’m excited to be doing the Cyber Fair. It’s actually the one event I think that will inspire me to some role play ideas for my blogs and videos. (Not that I don’t already do that to be fair).

There is so much and I’m just showing you some and even then it’s a lot.

Everything I’m wearing, backdrops, vehicles etc is all from the Cyber Fair. just a small snippet but enough of one to show you there is a huge cyberpunk/ Sci Fi interest in Second life.

The dances are from MOVE Animations

Cyberpunk meets Dubstep at Hangars Liquides

Cyberpunk meets Dubstep at Hangars Liquides

No Coffee chats today.

This week I promised myself and some good people I would spend my time raising the awareness of the amazing Hangars Liquides the largest and longest running cyberpunk city in the world.

The entire visual content is crafted in 3D, by artist Djehan Kidd, all the textures are hand painted. The sound design has been entirely created for the city by Laurent Mialon, composer and founder of Hangars Liquides.

This statement direct from the page DJehan Kidd wrote :-

– THE MEANING OF THE ART WORK –

Hangars Liquides is a work evolving around our dystopian reality.

Throughout the city you will find illustrations and reminders of our dystopian reality. Historical facts that led us to where we stand now. 911, Tien An Men, Slavery, WW2 memorials, and so on, everything that highlights how humans are able to hate one another, can be displayed in the city. I want to push people so they have no choice but remember these things, for we all live in a consumerist environment, both online and offline : Pier Paolo Pasolini said that “consumerism spreads faster than fascism, so much we didn’t see it come”, indeed, what are we able to see of this world when we are too self absorbed about ourselves only, what happened to Narcissus. I think that this is what consumerism does to us, like a sedative drug, if we are blinded so much we wont see anything come. This is why I am part of a non profit organization, as an artist, because I intend to use online platforms to spread a message to the people, through art, in this case, the message is to open our eyes on our present oppressive dystopia, and even if we feel unable to act or do anything to change the world, at least we can try to come up clean in the act of intellectual honesty that consists into looking at ourselves for what we are, the city is a mirror of this.

Hangars Liquides

Today this blog is done  last minute and so is this video. So it will not be the wonderfully edited creation I want it to be but it will explain the reason as to why I am putting it out.

If you are not aware, the  wonderful Cyberpunk experience Hangars Liquides is coming to an end.  As blogged repeatedly by New World Notes

On July 31st it is due to close. But we don’t want that!!

Contribute here and make it stay!

This amazing 3D created place has been in Second Life since 2007 and is so well known that even The UK Guardian highlighted it  as one of the  largest virtual cyber punk cities in the metaverse.

William Gibson  has tweeted about it and Oprah Winfrey has had her picture taken with it posted behind her.

All the textures and mesh were created and  painted by the 3D artist known as Djehan Kidd

All sounds created especially for the city by HL’s founder La Pest

Now step back inside with me as I go to film again

Exploring Hangar Liquides

Exploring Hangar Liquides

Hangar Liquides is the world’s largest and oldest cyberpunk city in the virtual world. Its in Second Life no less!
It has 5 sims which go to make up this amazing experience.  It was even featured in the Guardian in 2014 as the worlds largest Cyberpunk City.

Recently it was announced this huge amazing build would be closing, however an update is that it will remain open till August 2019 when it will then have to close down.

There are places on the sim you can rent if you are looking for a cool place to live and at the same time helping towards keeping this amazing place going. Make sure you join the group when you land to keep up to date.

The truth is as revealed by the indie artist Djehan Kidd behind this amazing place is that it costs several million $L to maintain and of course time etc.

Djehan Kidd is looking to expand  skills further in the virtual world and so maintaining this for an indefinite period of time is not possible.

Shame I didn’t have a few $L million as this is an awesome build.

While it is here its a must see experience. Video below of my small bit of it.

The Easy Life

The Easy Life

I’ve just raised my head above my pillow and feel a little shattered.

Last night I was asked to film an event and was a little nervous about doing so because I don’t as a rule film for people directly.

When people offer you payment for a service it can take away your creativity in many ways because you are doing so to their specifications not your own. Hence why it’s never been a thing for me to do.

Last night the event catered for nigh on 100 avatars (I’m not sure how many turned up). Suffice to say there were far more than I have ever experienced in my virtual life existence. Far more.

Think of the shopping events you attend and the walk is like treacle, now double that experience. I had to crash out 4-5 times and in my last crash my computer completely reset my graphics card.

2.5 hours later I had to leave early before my beautiful computer died a graphic card death.

Moral of the story , our virtual existence is a graphic card away in life span. A few lindens is not worth the loss.

I have great respect for videographers who film weddings, events etc where there is a high avatar count. The real effects it has on their pc’s cannot be overlooked. Hence now I understand the cost behind the service.

Now for my Sunday dance video and this illuminated outfit!
