I sat on a virtual swing last night. Just me, the sunset, and a mild sense of “what the actual hell is going on with life.”
It was quiet. Too quiet, actually. I half expected my cat to start judging me for sitting there like a moody poet. The swing creaked with every push, probably as tired as the rest of us. But for a few minutes, it was just me and the wind doing its best “emotional movie scene” impression. Well so my imagination let it play out.
I started thinking about how everyone seems to be going through it right now, mentally, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. It’s like the entire planet needs a group nap and a decent cup of tea. Laced with some hallucinogenic.
Still, in that weird, peaceful moment, I felt kind of okay. Not happy exactly, but calm, the sort of calm that comes when you realise chaos isn’t going anywhere, so you might as well swing through it.
Then, of course, a fly went straight up my nose and ruined the whole deep-thinking moment. But that’s life lately, isn’t it? Beautiful sunset one second, insect invasion the next.
Not true about the fly. But added to the story.
Sometimes that’s all you need. Just a swing, a sunset, and the ability to find humour in the mess that is life in 2025.
