I just wanted to share a little update after my hospital visit. It was yesterday 24th. Most lesions were fine. But one. If you don’t know the original is here
Im booked in for a surgical excision on 14th August, and the sample will be sent off for pathology to make sure they have removed the entire area affected. It’s on my shin of all places and I won’t lie I’m petrified of being cut open there. The one part of my body that has no fat.
I cried when I got home yesterday and then pulled myself together.
I’m reminding myself that this is exactly why early checks and interventions are so important. The main thing is, we’re catching it early.
For now, it’s a waiting game until the 14th, followed by more waiting for the results of the pathology.
On top of that I’ve had an emergency referral for a specialist ultrasound as well and that is Sunday 3rd. A lump was located in my arm on the inner elbow and with luck it’s a lipoma rather than anything of concern. However because I’m in a 2 week cancer pathway they’ve rushed the ultrasound as well.
I moan often about the NHS because it’s about long waits etc. However I have to say I’m blown away at how seriously they’ve taken all this and I don’t feel anything but honest thankfulness at how I’m being treated. The NHS for all its faults is a great service that people take for granted.
In the meantime, regularly check your skin. And if something doesn’t look or feel quite right, don’t sit on it. Trust your gut, and get it seen.
