Where are you now

Happy Sunday’s. Nothing ends a Saturday night better than a epic mushy song and a woman dancing on the edge of a cliff.

Thank you to Jackson Redstar for his help in fixing an over saturation.

Waiting for sunshine

The wait is over.

According to the morning news we will reach the heady heights of around 21 celcius locally today. Serious dressing decisions had to be made on my part for the day ahead.

Out comes the linen dress and the pale pink lippy. I’m ready to be Miss Spring.

I absolutely love spring. The blossom trees, daffodils and tulips adorning gardens and the smell of fresh cut grass everywhere as people excitedly get themselves ready for some outside living.

Then of course sunglasses.

In RL I have something like 7 pairs of sunglasses that I never wear.

Yet in SL I wear them a lot. Go figure.

Just another day

Of course it’s just another day in our real worlds. Cleaning, washing, shopping and the list goes on. But take some time and disappear into another world, those tasks seem a million miles away.

I’ve done them all today  and even done some babysitting on top of that. Call me superwoman if you will.

My little pixel gal went to the snow again. To be fair you can’t escape from the snow in SL at the moment as most sims are embracing that we are heading to Christmas and traditionally this comes with snow.

However I think what is forgotten is there are parts of the world that are basking in sunshine and Christmas is a salad and a cold meat.

But, I have  to admit I love the winter wonderlands. Every one I’ve been to so far is truly like a work of art.

Good hearts

A big thank you to a friend who helped me get my schizzle back on.

As I’m on this bus journey to work I am substantially cooler than I was yesterday.

The ride home yesterday in the hells oven torture tank which felt like a sauna was just too much. Have they never heard of Windows  for buses?

The dude that got on without his shirt will be ingrained in my memory for a long time to come!!!

The hairy back with sweat dripping sat in front of me……..

Why? Why? Why?

Put a shirt on. It collects your sweat, I assure you it does.

To put in context, I’m not near the beach and this was a bus road home in a packed bus.

As you can see I do have my schizzle on again and I’m so excited ….

Budget like a housewife

I’m staring out the bus right now and wondering about this day ahead.

I’ve been called into meetings about restructures so many times in the past year. Average redundancy is around 20-40  each time.

That’s a hell of a lot of skills lost and people who will have mortgages and families to worry about. Two of these people in the pool could potentially be a couple. If they both lose their jobs? Doesn’t bear thinking about the devastation that family would suffer.

This is the reality.

This is happening everywhere and has been ongoing a few years now. But seems to be increasing.

The more people you lose from the public sector the less capable the services become. It’s a false economy slashing jobs to save money.

The wise would have been preparing in the good times for the bad times. That’s what every healthy wise budget person does. But of course the government?

Well I’ll leave that thought with you while I laugh at their unwise highly paid financial decision makers.

Budget like a housewife and you may just get it!

That dress

“A woman’s dress should be like a barbed-wire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view. ” Sophia Loren.
What we wear tends to define us in the eyes of other people. It shouldn’t, but it still continues to do so.

If you wear something tight and short an automatic assumption is flirty and sexy, maybe a little wanton. Or power dresser, in control, flaunting but not revealing.

If you wear total coverage, flat shoes, maybe a prude, a little self concious and not open. Lacking in ambition and drive.

Even in this day and age of “equality” and  more relaxed attitudes, the preconceptions are still hovering over how people perceive  others in what they wear and how they look.

I saw an article in the UK press recently which of course sent my internal grrrr to combustulation point.

It was regarding a agency worker (female) who took an assignment at a company and upon her first day starting was told to go home and change her shoes, or pop out and buy some new ones. If she didn’t, not to return!

Basically she turned up for work in flat shoes and the expectation was that she should (must) wear heels.

She won her case and the employer had to reconsider changing its policies. Which frankly I would call sexist and totally disengenuous to any woman in the workplace.

I used to wear heels and now I wear flats. It’s made absolutely no difference to my ability to do my job or the brain I have in my head. In fact, it means I get around a lot quicker (because I can walk ) and for me personally being comfortable means I’m more productive.

That said, I have friends who find the reverse, they can’t walk in flats and can walk better in heels.

Moral of this story……clothes are just a minor detail and do not define a person.

But I do so love this little red dress, and I will wear heels with this.
