Save a friend!

So this is how I feel about COVID right now. Armed and ready to kick its backside from here to kingdom come.

This is also how I feel about the stupid people who care only about their own selves and disregard others affected by this very serious thing going on. I’ll certainly be ready to send you to the other side of my street with my ammunition of water spray. (Clearly I’m not a violent person, but I could be tempted to water spray you!)

Today I found out how someone close to a friend cannot see her mother in a old aged home. but what’s worse is that all in the home are not allowed out of their room to mix.

If people tell me that’s ok then really there are no hearts inside them.

It’s bad enough being separated from your loved ones but to stay in your room and not able to socially bubble with those in the very same home. That’s just purely cruel.

It’s cruel of all the ignorant people who can’t give up their social lives for a bit to get ahead of this.

It’s not great being less physically social , it’s not great not being able to go out and let your hair down etc etc. But seriously are all lives that shallow that people cannot think beyond themselves?

I follow all the social distancing, even more strongly than I probably need to. But I do that because I want to help stop it’s spread.

I don’t want to be part of the problem. I don’t want my children to experience it and I don’t want their children to either.

So I’m ready here, Captain Isa, with my force of pretend people at Cocoon ready to blast this thing away.

Join the revolution, stop the conspiracy theories, just let’s all stop thinking about our social media a bit and start thinking about our lives too and those around us. Do something positive today.

Save a friend.

  1. I’m not sure how things are there in elderly homes but here in the US the “C” Virus seems to be running rapid in elderly/nursing homes and sadly even more so in the Veterans homes. I’m not sure if the essential workers were carrying it in unknowingly or visitors anyways sadly most elderly homes are restricting visitors I’m not sure about if the residents can mingle with each other. I’m very fortunate both sets of my grandparents are still living at home. My heart truly goes out to the elderly community. Excellent topic Isabelle.

    1. It’s suddenly getting worse again. Many people are so selfish it saddens me. No elderly person should be having to be forced alone because the community behaves recklessly. I’m sad about what my friend told me earlier. I think sometimes people really do not think about more than their own wants . Sadly this is our world.
      Thank you 😊x

      1. It is sad for those that have family living far off or none, my grandparents that live further away in the next town have been staying with us since the quarantine my other grandparents live right up in our cul da sac which makes it easy for my mom, dad, brothers and myself to help and keep them safe. My mom and I take turns sourcing food and other needs for a few elderly neighbors nearby who have family that live far. If only everyone who had elderly neighbors could pitch in I think these senior citizens would do well. We leave food and such on their back porch and visit from a distance & check up on them a few times a day. Honestly I think we do it in a selfish way because it makes ourselves feel better knowing they’re taken care of. luv ya my friend, you’re such a sweet caring person! hugs & stay safe

      2. Your family sounds so lovely, honestly lovely. I think I may just move in!! 🥰🥰
There’s something so wonderful when families are close by and look out gif each other like this. Sadly not enough people adopt that and I see many elderly people basically abandoned into care homes or living in their own having to be cared for 🥰🥰🥰🥰

That makes no sense, Isa. Why would the elderlies be excempt from the social distancing? That woud make them the biggest egoists and most endangered victims, too.

      4. You again fail to see. Elderly people in residential homes are already excluded from the community.
Why should they then be banished to their bedroom ?
Because the staff maybe find it easier?
Sorry but that’s like me saying to you, you stay in your bedroom for months because your not allowed into your living room to say hello to the other old person in the room next door. That’s just plain cruel

  2. It’s the second wave hitting before the first is over and done with. Fortunately the virus itself seems to become weaker now and the symptoms not as severe as they were in the beginning. But Isa, you’re sending out mixed messages, keeping the oldbies locked in their rooms is cruel but not not saving them is also cruel. You know quite well they are a higher risk. What would be your solution?

And all the people who can’t stop mingling with others are just assholes! Right!

I know I’m not a rolemodel myself in the regard, seeing my various vehicle people almost every week, going grocery shopping and to the gym. But at all those places we behave accordingly, wearing our masks and keeping social distance whenever possible. And the gym is one of the cleanest, most sterile and safe places you can think of at this time. I also think after more than half a year in lockdown, none of my acquaintances is showing any symptoms so I feel save among them. We’re adults, we know the risk, we wear our masks, we sanitize, we adapt.

You can’t expect that amount of rationality from 90 y/o halfwits in old peoples homes. For them it’s indeed better to be restricted to their rooms.

    1. No I don’t agree. Elderly people in care homes being locked away in their rooms in isolation is most cruel. They should be socially bubbling with their housemates. They’re safe away from the community but then from each other? That’s cruel. Remember these people are often on the pathway to their final period of life. How would you feel knowing your mother or father were on their own in their bedroom for months?
That’s cruel and unfair given the behaviour of others

It’s your actions, Cherry, not your motivation that makes you a good person. It’s remarkable that you even think in such a way.

Many people have this helper syndrome and don’t even notice that their need to help is stronger than the recipients’ need for their help.
