On the bench

It’s way too hot to sit inside. I’ve done it all day working at the desk.

So for ease of feeling human, it balcony time and a cooler spot.

I was thinking about what’s going on in the world earlier and considering how many of us have taken the time and care to follow the social distancing rules for COVID19.

Then I think about how it’s slowly unravelling in different hot spots of the world because the infections are slowly starting to appear again.

Whilst, at the same time Knucklehead Boris Johnson is easing off the lockdown in the most frankly imbecilic way.

Not only can we look to step closer than the 2 metres but will be able soon to go hang out in pubs and restaurants get tipsy and well if you are like me when tipsy, you want to hug and kiss the world.

Go figure!

But here’s the dumb bit. Businesses like beauticians, gyms, nail salons etc who have spent money investing in making their premises COVID19 safe. Have now been told they cannot open. How much sense does that make, when bars can open?

None clearly!

So those are the thoughts floating around in my head right now this balmy summer evening.

  1. It’s really a terrible situation Is, none of us as well as all the doctors and politicians could have fathomed such a state of affairs. Most people have been EXTREMELY patient (I’ve tried my best to be…my wedding plans are on hold I’m silently freaking!!!) , and we want to get on with our “normal” lives soon, but I feel it’s a learning curve I don’t blame the political leaders trying to institute guidelines, in fact I feel a empathy for them in this case since they’re damned if the do or damned if they don’t. I’m just hoping someone holds “that” certain county/leader accountable for “supposedly” purposely sharing the virus. I continue to keep praying for a workable vaccine and an end to the pandemic, what else can one do? Please #StaySafe luv ya

    1. Meanwhile in the U.K. Boris says yes to fun fairs, pubs and restaurants but no to the things that actually keep you healthy. Lol I despair.
I’m sorry your wedding is being messed with. I bet you just want to start that new life. ❤️❤️

  2. I feel you, Isabelle.
My gym, Virgin Active, is closed since the first day of the lockdown, and no sign of easing up soon for them. Sir Richard is losing fantastillions of shiny silver coins while still investing into his chain of health clubs.
    https://www.virginactive.co.za/clubs/sunningdale#timetable-section

They have lots of virtual training, even 1:1 sessions with your personal coach and all sorts of entertainment to ease your pain. 😉

Meanwhile all our accounts are frozen in, meaning we don’t have to pay during lockdown, and the lost time will be added to our membership once the clubs are allowed to open again.

Me, I’m doing yoga classes, which I can do alone at home as well, but I’m also using the pool/sauna area almost daily. With the amount of chlorine/salt in the pool and the hot sauna the fukn Covid-19 virus has no chance to spread or even survive, so this would be totally save to use. And for all the bodybuilders they made social distancing zones and areas to drop your weights after the session for disinfecton by the staff. They do really care a big deal about the pandemic. Still no luck with the gov’mt. 😦

    1. I’m thinking of creating my own imaginary gym. You can all come and use it and pretend to sweat lol
My housemate is running 10k a day in a circle around the lake. She needs to go back to her jujitsu and climbing as her mental health starting to suffer. I just don’t understand how pubs supersede gyms who have spent money to get Covid ready

  3. And Tsar Boris of Englandia, omFg, his own father has applied for a French passport now, hasn’t he? So he can stay a citizen of the EU and don’t go down with his son’s island state. 😮

There is something seriously wrong with modern day politicians. :/

  4. I got the letter yesterday from the government detailing the changes to lockdown over the next few months for those like me who are on the ‘shielding list. They’re framed as being the choice of the individual, but when you consider that the government is also proposing to wind down the various support schemes they had in place to support people financially during the lockdown, I fear that a lot of folks won’t have any choice other than to go out and back to work. 😦

I’ll keep doing my daily walks as much as possible, but I’m going to get myself some masks to wear when I’m out in public, because I worry that the government are still fixated on herd immunity and sod the consequences as long as they can shift the blame off themselves and onto the people who ‘chose’ to put themselves in danger. 😦

    1. Yeah I’m going to be definitely continuing to follow the distancing. I find it disgusting about the govt withdrawal of finance. Mind you why am I shocked. I work in social services and we just cannot believe it. Ridiculous. Stay safe and after today’s shenanigans I’ve seen on my news feed of Bournemouth beaches, people clearly have forgotten 🤦‍♀️
