Women and equality

I do my job in a very professional manner. I take money for it every chance I get.- Melanie White

That makes me chuckle every time I read it.

If you remember me saying a little while ago I was about to do Employment Law. Well, I have now started it. The hours in the day are completely filled now.

If I’m not doing course work, union stuff or in fact working, then that would be considered a miracle.

I’m loving the learning about old laws at the moment. One thing I have learnt is that we are an evolving society and we should always be aiming to get it better.

Women have certainly come a long way in terms of equality. But, we have so much further to go. We still aren’t “equal” and despite the laws on equality, people are still laws unto themselves.

One of the parts about employment law I’m going to enjoy is gaining the skills and knowledge to fight a better case for equality. I’m a woman (when I last checked, I confirm this. Lol) and despite my skills etc I’ve found that men have surpassed me in the work place with less education, less social skills and less frankly sense. Why, because traditionally the jobs were for the “boys”.

That’s not to say they are to blame. But there is still the historical old thinkers in places of power who haven’t noticed the world has changed.

So, as I sit at my desk (not really, I’m on the bus), I contemplate how the heck I juggle so much and still find time for friends, family and playing with virtual people. Answer: multitask.
